Stylish re-design of 21, the flagship restaurant of Michelin-starred chef and iconic restaurateur Terry Laybourne, on Newcastle’s Quayside.

Having established a big name for itself, in 2007 the restaurant relocated to a large former retail space, and the team was tasked with creating a sleek, head-turning new look that would establish 21 as the fine-dining destination. We played an ongoing role with the venue, working closely with architects JDDK to address challenges from ventilation to fire regulations.

In 2015, we were asked to give it another face lift. Sophisticated yet understated, the environment we created was comfortable and relaxed but with striking twists such as the playful lights and soft furnishings. We introduced warm, deep colours on the walls, sumptuous fabrics for the furniture, and a clever partitioning system to allow different parts of the restaurant to be opened up or closed down to create private dining areas.
