Concept design of a Japanese restaurant for a Marriott hotel located in Hong Kong.
With views of the surrounding stunning scenery, the design concept for the new restaurant stems from Shizen; beauty in the natural form, with absence of pretence and artificiality. The design ethos is to blur the boundary between the external garden space and the interior, using authentic natural materials such as timber and stone with an abundance of planting. Our aim is to communicate Japanese philosophy without clichés. Our design draws upon the meanings of Kenso, cherishing simplicity and Shibui – with beauty in the understated.
