The types of materials and finishes used had to comply with strict infection control requirements and in some areas is governed by the requirements of the specialist equipment being used. Timber shelving units divide the seating areas into more intimate spaces and timber slatted panelling stained in a soft elm colour reinforces the use of natural materials throughout, counterbalancing the clinical setting.
The treatment rooms feature an illuminated image of a bright blue sky and colourful blossoms within the overhead ceiling panels to help calm patients whilst undergoing treatment and to help focus whilst remaining still.
Uplifting local images of natural scenery are used on large-scale wallpapers and canvasses – a design principle used throughout all of GenesisCare centres.
